Life Lately: November 2014

I've come to the conclusion I cannot catch a break. As soon as I cross one thing off my 'to-do' list two more are added. With my recent move and the semester ending at school my schedule got pretty hectic. It didn't help that I managed to catch a cold in the midst of it all. While I work on managing my time while I figure out this new schedule here's a little update about my life lately.

Chicago's weather never fails to amaze me. Yesterday it was in the mid-60s, an absolutely gorgeous day, but they're predicted a polar vortex later this week. I am not looking for that one bit. Why can't humans be a species that hibernates in the winter or flocks south? Other than the highly disappointing weather situation not much has been going on between the city and I. The Jenner girls were here last week and Nik Wallenda did his dare devil tight rope walk the week before. The most exciting thing I've done (because I've been hiding from the dropping temperatures) was stopping by the bean because my mom and some family friends hadn't ever seen it.

Like I said between school and being sick there hasn't been much time for fun. I did however try my first ever pumpkin spice latte. Coming for someone who is far from a pumpkin fan, it was okay, but I still don't see what all the hype is about. I did however highly enjoy the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k run I did yesterday! This is only my second 5k run and the first time running the Hot Chocolate one. I absolutely loved it. Granted running in a huge crowd of people can be a pain the event itself is so encouraging and I tend to get bored while running. I definitely want to register for more Chicago 5k events in the future, maybe come spring. I'm not one to run in extreme heat or cold--my lungs can't handle all that.

Now that I've been spending a ridiculous amount of time in the car music is more important than ever.  I love when people share new music they've been loving because it gives me a chance to branch out and hear more than the top 25 most played radio tunes. Occasionally I've asked my friend Brad to make a CD with his favorites because he listens to a lot of undiscovered and local artists I would never find on my own. As for popular songs, that will soon be overplayed, Beg For It by Iggy Azalea and Crazy by Kat Dahlia are my current favorites.

Draining space and data one app at a time; literally, just ask my mom. I re-entered the snapchat cult. I used to love snapchat two years ago then I gave up on it, especially because it was a huge battery drain on my 4s. I made a new account if you add me you can check out my stories, I try to update it throughout the day. My username (like everything else) is @/katelynmasek. I am also in the Kim Kardashian Hollywood cult. Judge me, I don't care. At least I'm not crazy enough to spend real money on it.

Literally my life is school and it sucks. I am both mentally and physically drained, winter break please hurry. I am convinced the day I graduated will be the greatest day ever... until I start medical school. On the flip-side of that I finally managed to "man-up" and go to my first open call. I've shot here and there with photographer friends and small companies/brands but people have always insisted I at least try to get more involved with the modeling world, which would be cool but also very time consuming and tough. I'm going to give it a go because why not? Might as well live life to the fullest--it never hurts to try.

Everything Else
Other than all the main things the only newly brainstormed ideas are a new car and a new hair do. You haven't seen my hair since I dyed it almost two months ago because my lack of photo posts but I got it darkened a bit and I'm just not feeling it. It's not me. I'm going back to blonde next month and I've decided to try the balayage route. My light blonde hair was the first time in a long time that I hadn't been craving a change (I only dyed it because my mom hated it). As for the car.. I'm still working on that.

  1. I absolutely love these kind of posts, especially when it's been a little bit since their last post. I can definitely relate, numerous times this semester I have had to put blogging on hold and study first. I am excited to see where this modeling thing takes you though, as well as medical school (when that time comes around). Can't wait to see what kind of car you decide on, knowing you it will most likely be fabbb.

    Stay warm

    1. Me too! It's a great way to still interact with my readers aside from small social media posts. Obviously I would love to have numerous style posts, but being a student we both know it is not very easy. I would love to blog full-time, what a career that would be. Thanks love, I will keep you all updated on any new goods in my life. Let's have a blogger date downtown soon.
